Wood – the archive
Jan de Weryha-Wysoczański
Curator: Henryk Gac, Leszek Golec
Promoter: PAC, The Centre of Polish Sculpture in Orońsk
7.01–10.02.2005 / Library gallery
The exhibition showed the sculptures of Jan de Weryha-Wysoczański. The artist has lived and worked in Hamburg since 1981. He carves in wood. These are minimalist forms that combine the natural processes with the will of rational creation. The artist introduces Minimal Art geometry. His sculptures confront the material processed and unprocessed by the artist, leaving the tracks of his tools on wood. Thanks to these techniques his works are full of life – the light reflexes coexisting with warm colours only enhance the effect. The works have been presented in Poland for the first time
